World Architecture Competitions: Iceland Bathhouse

International architecture competition for the design of a contemporary thermal retreat, nestled in Lagoon Blue in Iceland, will function as a tourist attraction focused on providing an immersive experience among water, rock, steam and incredible landscapes.

The program will include a main thermal pool, a cold plunge pool, spaces for relaxation and contemplation, as well as six exclusive suites for those wishing to extend their stay and enjoy the Icelandic landscape in an intimate and serene setting.

The Site

The project will be located on the northern side of the Blue Lagoon, on the Reykjanes Peninsula, one of Iceland's most geologically unique regions. The site offers ideal conditions for the project's development. It will form part of the existing thermal complex, covering an area of approximately 6,400 m². This area retains a greater sense of tranquility and direct contact with nature, making it a destination that combines secluded landscape with a well-established tourist infrastructure.
